Description

This large catamaran is the heir to the GRAND SUD 45' with an excellent reputation. The Sud Composite shipyard in Balaruc les Bains perfectly mastered the manufacture of wood composite and produced a dozen of these catamarans to the Daniel Tortarolo plan. The manufacturing method in CP/Epoxy/Vacuum glass allows a favorable weight estimate and exemplary chassis stiffness. For economic reasons, the shipyard then moved on to construction in female molds and produced about twenty SWITCH 51 to the VPLP plan which are all remarkably reliable catamarans.

This SC55' was originally an order for the charter whose project has evolved, the current owner (a nautical professional) surrounded himself with the best craftsmen and former companions of the singer Sud Composites to complete a majestic unit, very equipped, with remarkable finishes. Ideal for a family round the world.

The silhouette with the roof derived from the SWITCH 51 is very successful, a classic and timeless design.

Built in Balaruc-les-Bains by Sud Composites on a Tortarolo design, this GRAND SUD 55, launched in 2009, is a unique multihull in vacuum-epoxy wood, with roof, cockpit and skirts in polyester foam sandwich from the SWITCH 51. Finished and equipped by a nautical professional, it was designed for charter use, but was ultimately only used for private navigation.
